While we were presenting our demo there was a bomb scare at the Capitol. They made everyone leave the Visitor Center except the HouseOfCode participants which were in the lower conference area of the building.
After HouseOfCode wrapped up we could not use the regular Visitor Center exits due to the bomb scare, so we had to take a path through the actual Capitol. We went through an area called the Crypt which was a very interesting architectural space with many arches in a circular area.
Once we finally got out of the Capitol, we walked down the Mall. It was so fun to see all the cool buildings, and the Smithsonian castle, even though we didn't go in. It was totally amazing to see the Washington Monument, the Reflecting Pool, and the Lincoln Memorial. The pictures don't do them justice compared to seeing them in person.
Then it was back to the Metro for our last ride. On the way to the motel we stopped at the grocery to pick up some good food, and ended the day with a fantastic dinner.
