Lyrics

I went down to the Lawrence County Chicken Races
To see and say and smile at all the pretty faces
When I rolled into town, boys, I didn't hear them sounds
I did not hear any thundering repleat
Of hundreds of little tiny tiny chicken feet.

The people piled in
And after 10 drinks of some nasty tasting Gin
I swear I saw the ghost of Marilyn Monroe
Or maybe it was just the glow white feathers
Behind them chicken bridle teathers
It was so damn tought to tell whether
What was in between that teather leather.

The birds were rolled-out
The people turned about
What happened then was outta sight
As hundreds of chickens took flight
Man I don't want no novelty little chicken helmets baby
I just want to place a little bet on the chicken races

You see I just heard this town's only chicken shepherd
Ran off with a very important lady, man I think that dude is shady
You better dial back your love boy to a simmer,
Bring her back from that far off place.
You better dial back your love boy to a simmer
for this town's only chicken wing trimmer

Man I don't care just what you do
If you wanna have a chicken race that's up to you
But don't tell me no more your words
Till I can have a chat with your chicken shepherd.

Better dial his love back to a simmer.
Bring her back from that far off place.
